An export certificate is an official document issued by a UK authority confirming that goods meet the required standards for export to another country. It may be issued for food, animal products, medical goods, or general merchandise and is often required for customs clearance.
This document is often requested by:
Certification required: The export certificate must be issued by a recognised UK authority (e.g. DEFRA, the Food Standards Agency, or a Chamber of Commerce) and certified by a UK solicitor or notary public before apostille.
Original document: The apostille will be applied to the certified original.
Not eligible for e-apostille: Most export certificates must go through the physical apostille process due to their official format and seals.
Ensure the document includes the issuing body’s official stamp, date, and signature. Some countries may request further legalisation by their embassy after the UK apostille. Always confirm the import requirements of the destination country.
